Is your toilet blocked? This is what you could do.

99% of toilet blockages are caused in one way or another by the person using it. Toys or other objects being thrown into the toilet by children - The little plastic hook type scented blocks falling in accidentally - and many other similar causes. A recharge policy is being introduced and you may well recieve a bill if a contractor attends and finds anything other than natural deposits, or mechanical breakdown causing the blockage. We don't want to charge you for your own blockages so we have included some tips below for you to try before asking a contractor to attend.

Unblocking a toilet:
If the pan is already full, remove some of the water into a bucket using some form of scoop, for example, a jug or bowl.
Push a toilet brush or plunger to the bottom of the pan and pump it up and down vigorously about 10 times. This may shift the blockage.
If the water has gone down to its normal level, flush the toilet to see whether the blockage has cleared completely.
You may need to repeat this process several times before the toilet flushes normally.
Look for signs of any plastic or cloth material round the bend as that is generally where the blockages occur, if you can see them try and hook them with a straightened coat hanger and pull them out.
It could be the cause of the blockage is stuck in the second bend.
