Get surfing and check out our new website!

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has launched a new look website to encourage more people to log on and find out more about fire safety.

The new site features a section for children and teachers, with animated interactive games and information for schools on how to book visits by specialist fire and rescue service staff.

The site also has downloadable photos from various incidents, as well as the latest breaking news, a vacancies section and fire safety tips for all who live, work and travel in North Wales.

Visitors to the site can also register for a free home fire safety check online.

Please visit www.nwales-fireservice.org.uk to take a look!

Residents snapping up our free home fire safety checks

Thousands of residents across North Wales are taking advantage of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s free home fire safety checks.

Over 26,000 checks were carried out in the year ending 31st March.
So far in 2008, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has received almost 7000 requests for the service through the all – Wales freephone telephone number.

These figures demonstrate just how beneficial our free home fire safety checks are - people feel so much safer in their homes after the visit and they encourage everyone they know to take advantage of the service.

During a free home fire safety check, a member of the Service will visit your home, give fire safety hints and tips, help you to formulate a fire escape plan and, if necessary, fit new smoke alarms – all totally free of charge. The service is available for all residents in North Wales.

The visit is non-judgmental, and Service staff will simply give advice on how to stay as safe as possible in the home.

Through partnership working with various local organisations, we have been able to visit some of the most vulnerable residents in the region - many of the people we have helped out have been disabled or elderly, and have benefited greatly from the advice we have to offer.

We are heavily promoting the checks and trying to ensure that as many residents as possible are safe in their homes – have you taken advantage of the service yet?

To register, please call 0800 169 12334, e-mail cfs@nwales-fireservice.org.uk or visit www.nwales-fireservice.org.uk. Please look after your safety and the safety of friends and family by spreading the word and putting your name down today.
